BONDED TITLES
A Texas Bonded Title is a process used to provide the title to vehicles when there is no substantial proof of ownership available. Listed below are some reasons why a bonded title may be required by Texas Law:
- A vehicle was purchased, and you didn’t receive a title from the registered owner.
- You bought a vehicle and received just a bill of sale
- The title of the vehicle was improperly assigned to you “The Buyer”
- You lost the title of a vehicle before you transferred into your name
- You are a victim of title jumping (Title jumping is the act of buying a vehicle and selling it without registering the vehicle in your name. The title “jumps” from one owner to the next, without any record. This was a practice used by car dealers to avoid having to pay taxes on vehicles. Today, though, title jumping is not limited to just car dealers. People’s titles jump for many reasons, but mostly to avoid paying sales tax and to avoid the actual title process).
REGISTRATIONS
One of the key benefits is that the auto registration renewal service plays a vital role in keeping you legally operating a vehicle on the streets, avoiding a traffic ticket for expired registration.
LICENSE PLATES
As part of your vehicle registration, you are issued a set of general-issue license plates. The plate number is assigned to you by TxDMV and cannot be personalized.
To drive legally on the streets, license plates must be displayed in 2 places, the front and rear of the vehicle. This spares you the potential headache of encountering issues like parking tickets.
As of November 1, 2016, the State of Texas no longer requires automatically replacing your plates after 7 years. However, you may need to apply for a new plate if your license plates need to be replaced for cosmetic or readability reasons. If you decide not to keep your license plates when you sell or dispose of your vehicle, the plates should be disposed of by defacing the front of the plate with permanent black ink, or similar method, in order to prevent their Current Design: The Texas Classic
Our current general license plates design was introduced in July 2012, “The Texas Classic” is designed to provide Texans the highest public safety protection and it is the first license plate in the country to feature two, high-visibility security threads embedded into the plate sheeting, making it easier for law enforcement to spot legitimate plates.
LOST TITLES
Your vehicle’s title is an extremely important document that should be kept secured against damage, loss, or theft. It contains vital information about your car and proves that you are its legal owner. You will need it for many kinds of processes with the DPS, or when you want to transfer ownership to someone else. If something happens to your title, it is very important that you obtain a replacement from the DPS as soon as possible.
PERSONALIZED PLATES
Personalized or Specialty license plates are the same thing and can be authorized by the DMV for you to give your vehicle a personal touch. The license plates catalog actually bring 500 different designs by categories like Lone Star Colors, Texas Themes, Colleges and Universities, Fraternities and Sororities, High Schools, Sports and Outdoors, Charities and Organizations, State Sponsored, Antique, Classic & Custom Vehicle, Military, Veterans and Occupational.
Before requesting personalized plates, we need to check the availability of the phrase, letter or number combination. Personalized messages must be approved by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV). Personalized plate fees are collected in addition to your registration fees and other applicable fees.
